NORTHAMPTON, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's track and field team had a couple of good performances on the first day of the two-day, Eastern College Athletic Championships at the Smith College Fieldhouse Saturday.

Junior Linee Mello-Frost (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS) finished seventh in the 55 meter hurdle trials in 8.59 seconds. Her performance allowed her to advance to Saturday's finals. Junior Nick Deininger (North Attleboro, MA/ North Attleboro HS) was fourth in his heat and 17th overall in the 55 meter hurdles in 8.20 seconds, while junior Jermai Harrison (Brockton, MA/Brockton HS) threw the shot put 36 feet, 10 inches and was 10th overall.

"It was good to for Linee to qualify for the finals," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Steve Gardiner. "It's the best she's done since she set the school record at 8.49 seconds as a freshman. Nick turned in a solid performance, and it was a good way for him to end his season. It's a tribute to him that he was able to get to the ECACs."

The Corsairs will conclude action at the ECAC Championships Saturday.
