Volleyball Rallies to Win at Suffolk

BOSTON, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's volleyball team rallied to defeat host Suffolk in five games in their non-conference match at the Regan Gymnasium Tuesday evening. UMass Dartmouth prevailed, 14-25, 25-12, 24-26, 25-20, and 15-8.
For UMass Dartmouth, sophomore setter Bianca Cabral (Dartmouth, MA/Dartmouth HS) had 46 assists, senior middle blocker Cami Ascher (Natick, MA/Natick HS) led the way with 20 kills, senior outside hitter Allie Mastrocola (Swansea, MA/Case HS) had 11 kills, and sophomore outside hitter Kelly Lyons (Pocasset, MA/Bourne HS/Mass maritime) added 10. Senior libero Shannon Brodie (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford HS) led the defensive effort with 21 digs, senior middle blocker Kaitlin Hogan (Tewksbury, MA/Shawsheen Tech) had four blocks, and senior libero Amanda Micco (Waltham, MA/Waltham HS) had three important service aces,
"We played well, and Bianca stepped up in the setting position for us," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Steve DeRossi. "Our hitters made the adjustment, and now we're back up to .500."
The Corsairs improved to 12-12 with the victory, while the Rams fell to 9-16 with the defeat. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they visit Wentworth Thursday evening.
