Volleyball Sweeps Curry for 15th Win

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's volleyball team swept visiting Curry in three sets in a non-conference match at the Tripp Athletic Center Friday evening.

 

The Corsairs prevailed, 26-24, 25-11 and 25-20.

 

For the Corsairs, senior setter Jess Goncalves (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS) had 14 assists, freshman outside hitter Stephanie Antoine (New Bedford, MA/Greater New Bedford Vo tech HS) had nine kills, while freshman outside hitters Brianna Perry (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS) and Eliza Bowes *(West Yarmouth, MA/Dennis-Yarmouth HS) each had six. Defensively, freshman outside hitter Linsay Boulay (Swansea, MA/Case HS) had eight digs, while Antoine had a pair of solo blocks and junior middle blocker Tahirah Gibson (Norwood, MA/Norwood HS) added a solo block and four assists.

 

"It was a good win," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Steve DeRossi. "We played well up front and defensively. Now we've got to go on the road to play a pair of matches on Saturday."

 

The Corsairs improved to 15-3 with the victory, while the Colonels dropped to 7-9 with the defeat.

 

 UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they play Gordon and Bridgewater State Saturday. Curry will travel to the University of New England next Wednesday.
