Volleyball Falls to UMass Boston in Three Sets

BOSTON, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth volleyball team was swept in three sets by Little East Conference foe UMass Boston on Tuesday evening at the Clark Athletic Gymnasium.  

UMass Dartmouth (6-14, 1-4 LEC) dropped the three sets 12-25, 12-25 and 25-14.  With the win, UMass Boston (12-12, 4-0 LEC) gained sole possession of first place in the LEC.

In games one and two, the Beacons showed how dominant their offense is. They recorded 14 kills in set one, 12 kills in set two and accumulated 10 service aces in the first two games.  

In set three, UMass Dartmouth saw a little bit of daylight trailing 16-14, but the Beacons quickly shut the door with nine consecutive points to capture a 25-14 set three win.    

Corsair senior Kelly Lyons (Bourne, Mass.) and sophomore Eliza Bowes (West Yarmouth, Mass.) each recorded 5 kills apiece, while sophomore Brianna Perry registered 10 digs.

UMass Boston was led by Bri Sousa (Swansea, Mass.) who had a game-high 7 kills and freshman Pepper Baker (Tallahassee, Fla.) who had five service aces to go along with seven digs.

The next match for UMass Dartmouth is against non-conference opponent Lasell College at 7p.m. on Thursday evening.
