WENHAM, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth volleyball team fell to Daniel Webster College and Gordon College on Saturday afternoon at the Bennett Center, 3-1 and 3-0.
UMass Dartmouth dropped to 6-17 on the season and has lost seven of their last eight matches. Daniel Webster split on the day and is now 8-10, while Gordon collected two victories and improved to 11-13 on the year.
The Eagles took down the Corsairs in four sets 17-25, 25-20, 21-25 and 17-25.
Top performers for UMass Dartmouth were Tahirah Gibson (Norwood, Mass.) with 10 kills, Brianna Perry (New Bedford, Mass.) with seven kills and eight digs, Christina Spinazola (Medway, Mass.) with 19 assists to go along with 14 digs and Jasmine Burris (New Bedford, Mass.) and Carina Filosa (Milford, Mass.) each recorded 12 digs apiece.
For Daniel Webster, Samantha Betts (Rancho Cucamonga, Cali.) recorded a game-high in kills and digs with 15 and 16. Ally Hayden (Bedford, N.H.) had 23 assists and nine digs, while Sarah Durocher (Keene, N.H.) ended with ten digs and five service aces.
Gibson, Perry and McEachern each recorded three kills for UMass Dartmouth. Filosa and Perry recorded 12 digs each and Spinazola dished out nine assists.
For Gordon, Laura Schmidt (Stuart, Fla.), Faith Gerdes (Wall Lake, Iowa) and Jenna Labbadia (Berlin, Conn.) led the offensive attack with nine, eight and seven kills. Senior Lauren Kranyak (Locust Grove, Va.) distributed a game-high 28 assists and Maggie Risma (Hudson, Ohio) registered 17 digs.
The Corsairs are back in action on Tuesday when they host Lesley University at 7 p.m.
