Corsairs Swept In Tri-Match with Blue Jays and AMCats

PAXTON, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth volleyball team dropped a pair of matches in straight sets Saturday afternoon during a tri-match with Saint Joseph (Conn.) and host Anna Maria College.

The Corsairs (9-17) suffered a 25-18, 25-20, and 27-25 setback to the Blue Jays in the opener, while dropping the nightcap to the AMCats 25-16, 25-21, and 25-15. UMass Dartmouth has been swept in its past seven matches.

Senior Kayla Kirby (Westport, Mass.) and junior Megan Ronaghan (North Attleboro, Mass.) led the Corsairs against Saint Joseph with seven kills. Junior Christina Spinazola (Medway, Mass.) registered a double-double with 21 assists and 15 digs. Senior Brianna Perry (Acushnet, Mass.) posted a team-best 19 digs.

In the nightcap, Kirby reached double digits in kills for the second time this season with 10 winners. Senior Jasmine Burris (New Bedford, Mass.) contributed seven kills, while Spinazola handed out 22 helpers. Perry continued to rack up the digs with 16, while Burris was three off her pace.

UMass Dartmouth will return to action at noon on Oct. 24, when the Corsairs host Little East Conference rival Plymouth State University (17-6, 1-3 LEC) and MCLA (19-7).
