BOSTON – The UMass Dartmouth volleyball team fell in straight sets to Wentworth on Thursday evening at Tansey Gymnasium, dropping 25-10, 25-18 and 25-23 decisions.

How it Happened
Freshman Anita Sengara (Vancouver, B.C.) led the Corsairs offense with seven kills in the match. Defensively, Sengara tied fellow freshman Jillian Sykora (Waterford, Conn.) with nine digs apiece. Emily West (Holyoke, Mass.) put forth a team-high .429 attack percentage with a solo block.
After a slow start, the Corsairs jumped out to the early lead in both the second and third sets with 5-1 and 4-1 leads, respectively. To begin the second set, the Corsairs' quick lead came by way of three service aces from freshman Jordan Rittberger (Huntington, N.Y.).
In the third frame, UMass Dartmouth held the advantage in the majority of the set before the Leopards rattled off 10 of the last 11 points to escape unscathed.
Inside the Numbers
- Rittberger posted a career-high with her three aces, and led the team with 13 assists.
- Wentworth outdid the Corsairs in the first set with a .520 attack percentage, raking in 14 kills on 20 attempts.
UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they travel to Western New England as they take on both the Golden Bears and Johnson & Wales (R.I.) in a tri-match on Saturday.
