BOSTON, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's volleyball team won their sixth consecutive match Thursday evening, defeating host Wentworth in three games in a non-conference match at Tansey Gymnasium Thursday evening. The Corsairs won, 25-18, 26-24, and 25-16.
Sophomore outside hitter Allie Mastrocola (Swansea, MA/Case HS) led UMass Dartmouth with seven kills, while sophomore middle hitter Cami Ascher (Natick, MA/Natick HS) had five kills, three blocks and two service aces. Senior middle blocker Amanda Langfield (Somerset, MA/Somerset HS) had five kills, freshman setter Jessica Goncalves (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS) had 18 assists while sophomore setter Katie Amalfi (Holliston, MA/Holliston HS) had seven, and sophomore libero Amanda Micco (Waltham, MA/ Waltham HS) and senior libero Aly Zagame (Greenfield, MA/Greenfield HS) each had six digs.
"We played well, and we were able to get everyone in from our bench," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Steve DeRossi. "Wentworth played well, especially in the second game."
UMass Dartmouth improved to 17-6 with the victory, while Wentworth fell to 4-22 with the defeat. The Corsairs will return to action when they visit UMass Boston Saturday to play the Beacons and Plymouth State in a pair of Little East Conference matches.
