NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA- Senior middle blocker Hilary Teichert (Pocasset, MA/Bourne HS) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's volleyball team has been honored.
Teichert has been named second team All-Little East Conference in a vote of the conference coaches.
Teichert ranked second in the conference in blocks, averaging 1.36 per game. She led the Corsairs in hitting with a .223 percentage and with 2.45 kills per game.
"Hilary is about as close to being a near perfect player as she can be, from a coaching standpoint," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Steve DeRossi. "She came into the league as the Rookie of the Year, and had to change as far as the needs of team were concerned. This year, she gave up some of her offensive opportunities to benefit the team, but she became a defensive force, and was right up there in blocking. She knows when to pound the ball and when not to, has a good knack of making the right decision, and is a good leader who leads by example."
The Corsairs finished the season with a 12-14 record, and advanced to the first round of the Little East Conference tournament.
