WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's cross country team placed 27th in the 57-team field at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships on Saturday afternoon.
UMass Dartmouth concluded the meet with 819 points, to finish between Bridgewater State (797) and Babson (862). MIT took first place in the championship, with four runners crossing the finishing line in the top ten. Engineer junior Sarah Quinn produced the top individual performance in the meet with a time of 21 minutes, 39 seconds, to edge out Middlebury's Alison Maxwell by nine seconds.
Senior Katie Sheehan (Scituate, Mass.) was the first Corsair runner to break the tape, as the Scituate Mass. product covered the 6-kilometer course in 24:11 for 93rd place. Classmate Jessica Connor (Worcester, Mass.) followed Sheehan and tripped the timer 30 seconds later in 125th. Sophomore Reme DiGiovanni (Southborough, Mass.) placed in 149th (25:01), while classmate Jen Miranda (New Bedford, Mass.) generated a time of 25:54. Senior Brittani Atkinson (Peabody, Mass.) and sophomore Rachel Frazier (Mansfield, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for Corsairs with times of 26:30 and 28:50.
