NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-For the second consecutive week, a member of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's cross country team has earned Little East Conference honors.
Freshman Dekontee Chea (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford HS) of the women's team was once again named LEC Women's Rookie Runner of the Week.
At Saturday's UMass Dartmouth Invitational, Chea finished 21st in the five kilometer women's race in 18:50. The UMD women moved up from their performance a year ago, finishing 12th in a field of 39 teams.
"I was pleased to see Dekontee honored again," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Jon Hird. "She had one of the races of the day Saturday, and she moved up to seventh on our all-time list with her performance. She helped us improve significantly from our performance of a year ago."
The Corsairs will return to action when they travel to Franklin Park in Boston for the Codfish Bowl this Saturday.
