Nov. 1, 2010

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-For the third time this season, freshman Dekontee Chea (Chelmsford, MA/ Chelmsford HS) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's cross country team has earned Little East Conference honors.

Chea was once again named LEC Women's Rookie Runner of the Week.

At Saturday's Little East Conference/New England Alliance Championships, Chea was fourth overall in 19:20.7, The UMD women finished third in the LEC and fifth in the Alliance.

"Dekontee ran a really smart race," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Jon Hird. "It was a very challenging course, especially the first mile. Dekontee ran a conservative first mile, but after she got to the top of a big hill, she began to open it up and pass most of the field, and was only edged out at the finish line by three runners from Keene. It showed that she has a lot of good racing instincts, and she just loves to compete."

The Corsairs will take this week off, returning to action at the NCAA Regional Championships a week from Saturday,
