TIVERTON, R.I. -- Two members of the UMass Dartmouth equestrian team qualified for the upcoming Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Zone 1 Championships with a pair of impressive performances on Saturday at the IHSA Regional Championships hosted by Roger Williams.
Senior Olivia Van der Meer (Medway, Mass.) took top honors in the open flat, and she will compete in that event as well as the Cacchione Cup class at the Zone 1 Championships on April 6th at Mount Holyoke. Van der Meer also posted a third place performance in the open fences during the regional competition.
Sophomore Kamori Porter-Jacques (Bellingham, Mass.) will also compete at the Zone 1 Championships after notching a second place finish in the walk trot for the Corsairs, which also received a fourth place performance in the novice fences from sophomore Kayleigh Sauyet (Andover, Conn.).
UMass Dartmouth placed fourth among 12 teams competing at the IHSA Regionals.
