WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The UMass Dartmouth golf team posted a 24th place finish at the two-day Williams Invitational, as the Corsairs fired a two-day total of 671 on the par 71 Taconic Golf Club layout.
Freshman Charlie Karagosian (Davis, Calif.) set the pace for the Corsairs with a two-day score of 75-80-155 that was good for a tie for 44th place, while fellow freshman Alexander le Gassick (Mattapoisett, Mass.) followed at 82-84-166 that placed him in a tie for 98th. Senior Nick Avilla (Westport, Mass.) was next with a score of 89-82-171 (tied for 113th place), while sophomores Paul DeSantis (Pembroke, Mass.) and Garrett Lane (Tewksbury, Mass.) rounded out UMass Dartmouth’s scoring with respective scores of 91-88-179 and 93-88-181 that were good for 122nd and 123rd place.
Babson edged host Williams by a stroke (588-589) to take the team title in the event, while the University of Rochester finished in the runner-up spot with a score of 591.
UMass Dartmouth travels to Farmingdale, N.Y. next weekend to compete at the two-day Farmingdale State Invitational on the iconic Bethpage Black Course beginning Saturday at Noon.
