DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's lacrosse team were stifled by the defense of UMass Boston, as the Beacons held the Corsairs to a season-low in shots en route to a 13-5 Little East Conference (LEC) victory at Cressy Field.

The Basics

Scores: UMass Boston 13, UMass Dartmouth 5

Records: Corsairs 6-8, 1-3 LEC | Beacons 7-6, 2-2 LEC

How it Happened

UMass Boston's Ned Parker (Stafford, Va.) fueled the victory for the Beacons as the sophomore struck for a game-high six goals. For UMass Dartmouth, five unique goal-scorers supplied the offense, as the top offensive players were effectively locked down by the Beacons.

The Beacons notched the first three markers in the game with Parker ending the streak with his initial goal of the game. Tom Donahue (Gloucester, Mass.) answered for the host as he deposited an unassisted goal for his 17th of the season. While facing a 9-1 deficit in the second, the Corsairs broke through again as Mike Rizzo (Bridgewater, Mass.) netted a feed from Donovan Prozinski (Ashland, Mass.).

UMass Dartmouth put their best effort forward in the final quarter of the game. After the Beacons widened the gap to 13-2, the Corsairs managed to find the net for three unanswered goals. Josh Souza (Sandwich, Mass.) got it going with 10:14 before Dean Miller (Ashland, Mass.) and Jordan Torres (New Bedford, Mass.) continued the streak to finish the game.

Inside the Numbers

  • The Beacons were able to hold the Corsairs to their lowest-shot output of the season (21).
  • Prozinski was kept without a goal for just his second game of the season, breaking a seven-game goal streak.
  • Torres kept the momentum on his goal-scoring streak, pushing it to eight games with the late tally.
