How it Happened
Regis started out with a 3-0 sweep in doubles. The Pride No. 2 pairing of Jarid Polley and Nolan Bebarta quickly dispatched UMass Dartmouth's duo of Summer Forest-Bulley (Turners Falls, Mass.) and Patrick Pacheco (Dartmouth, Mass.) by an 8-0 score. At No. 3, Trent Butler (Acushnet, Mass.) and Justin Torres (Dighton, Mass.) fell 8-1, but senior Corey Rafter (Franklin, Mass.) and sophomore Anthony Joseph (Fairhaven, Mass.) put up a battle at No. 1 before Regis prevailed 8-4.
All of the Corsairs to compete in doubles then played in singles. Butler saw the closest play, putting up a 6-4 first set at No. 5 against Regis' Nick Hildreth before slipping 6-2 in the second set. Joseph and Pacheco both suffered 6-3, 6-1 losses at No. 2 and No. 4, respectively, and Torres put up a pair of 6-2 sets at No. 6.
