DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Four individuals collected wins in both singles and doubles play to lead UMass Dartmouth to a 7-2 non-league college men’s tennis dual-match victory over Curry Wednesday afternoon on the UMD Courts.
Senior Anthony Joseph (Acushnet, Mass.), sophomores Baylen Harper (Leicester, Mass.) and Sean Nutter (Mattapoisett, Mass.) along with freshman Kyle Noseworthy (Dartmouth, Mass.) each posted straight set singles wins on the day for the host Corsairs (1-3), who won all three doubles outings by identical 8-4 finals. Joseph teamed up with sophomore Travis Viale (Westfield, Mass.) for a triumph at number one doubles, while Harper and sophomore Eli Brooks (Franklin, Mass.) were victorious at the number two spot in the lineup. Nutter and Noseworthy combined for the win at number three doubles for UMass Dartmouth.
Junior Aidan Roach (Norwell, Mass.) and senior Dawson Stento (Wellesley Hills, Mass.) each notched straight set singles victories at the top two positions to account for the visiting Colonels’ (0-6) lone points of the match.
UMass Dartmouth hosts Castleton in its Little East Conference opener on Sunday afternoon on the UMD Courts beginning at Noon, while Curry will be idle until next Wednesday, March 27th when the Colonels host Bridgewater State in a non-league dual-match in Milton, Mass. that begins at 3:30 pm.
