UMass Dartmouth freshman guard Jennifer Driscoll was named as the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon for her performance in last Tuesday evening’s 84-55 victory at Roger Williams.
A native of Westport, Mass. and a graduate of St. George’s School, Driscoll scored a career-high 18 points on a 6-of-7 shooting performance from the field for the Corsairs, as she connected on both of her three-point attempts and canned all four shots at the foul line. Jennifer added a rebound, assist, steal and block as well on the night, as she helped UMass Dartmouth extend its winning streak to four straight.
Driscoll becomes the third Corsair to earn a Little East weekly award in the early going, as senior guard Ashley Brown (New Bedford, Mass./Fairhaven) claimed the first two conference Player of the Week accolades and earned a spot on the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week on November 19th. Sophomore forward Shaelyn Carreiro (Fall River, Mass./Durfee) was tabbed as the Little East Player of the Week last Tuesday afternoon.
Head Coach Matt Ducharme’s squad, which is 6-1 overall and 1-0 in Little East play, conclude a four-game road trip on Wednesday evening by heading to Providence, R.I. to take on Rhode Island College in a conference clash that tips-off at 5:30 pm EST.
