Field Hockey Falls At Fourth-Ranked Babson

BABSON PARK, Mass. --  Junior Tori Roche (Andover, Mass.) and freshman Lauren Curley (Stow, Mass.) each scored a pair of goals to lead fourth-ranked Babson to an 11-0 non-league college field hockey victory over UMass Dartmouth Monday evening at MacDowell Field.

The host Beavers (6-1) broke open a 2-0 game with four goals in a 6:41 span late in the first half to extend that margin to 6-0 at the break, and Curley and Roche added tallies in the opening 12-plus minutes after intermission to increase the lead to 8-0.  Seniors Catherine Gilman (Cohasset, Mass.) and Ashley Tango (Reading, Mass.), along with junior Carla DiBiase (Winchester, Mass.), each added markers and an assist for Babson, which took all 48 shots (33 on goal) in the contest.

Freshman Cassidy Riley (Catonsville, Md.) picked up her sixth win of the season in goal for the Beavers, while sophomore Katelyn Banalewicz (Fall River, Mass.) made a career-high 11 saves in the first half in the setback for the visiting Corsairs (0-5).  Senior Allison Burke (Franklin, Mass.) also recorded 11 stops for UMass Dartmouth, as Babson took all nine penalty corners on the evening.

UMass Dartmouth travels to Framingham, Mass. on Wednesday evening to take on Framingham State in a Little East Conference match beginning at 7:00 pm, while Babson hosts Springfield in a New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference clash on Friday evening at MacDowell Field that begins at 6:00 pm.
