UMass Dartmouth junior midfielder Nerida Montrond was named as the Little East Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon for her efforts in a pair of league outings last week.
A resident of Lynn, Mass. and a graduate of Brockton High School, Montrond netted a pair of goals and two assists for six points on the week for the Corsairs, as she set up both markers in a 2-2 double overtime home draw with Keene State last Wednesday evening at Cressy Field before tallying twice in a 2-2 tie at UMass Boston last Saturday. Nerida leads UMass Dartmouth in scoring with three goals and four assists for 10 points to date, as her other tally came in a 1-1 draw at Bridgewater State back on September 6th.
Montrond becomes the third Corsair to earn a league accolade this fall, as senior Maddie McGee-Cochran (Lunenburg, Mass./Lunenburg) and sophomore Jaimee O’Brien (West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield) were tabbed as the respective Little East Defensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week back on September 3rd.
UMass Dartmouth, which stands at 3-5-3 overall and 1-1-2 in conference play under first year Head Coach Elise Cloutier, returns to action on Tuesday, October 2nd when the Corsairs head to Leicester, Mass. to square off with Becker in a non-league clash that begins at 6:00 pm EDT.
