Women's Soccer Suffers 1-0 Non-League Setback To Clark

DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  Freshman Lila McNamee’s (Cheshire, Conn.) goal in the 66th minute of play proved to be the game-winner and lifted Clark to a 1-0 non-league college women’s soccer victory over UMass Dartmouth Tuesday evening at Cressy Field.

McNamee converted a pass from senior Bailey Glenn (Middleboro, Mass.) on the deciding tally for the visiting Cougars (4-2), as she lofted a shot in from 25 yards out on the left side for her third marker of the season.  Sophomore Morgan Small (Quakertown, Pa.) made that stand up with a pair of saves in net for Clark, as she recorded her fourth clean sheet triumph of the fall.

Junior Jaimee O’Brien (West Springfield, Mass.) made 12 saves in the setback for the host Corsairs (1-3), as the Cougars outshot UMass Dartmouth by a 20-5 margin overall (13-2 on goal) and held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks for the contest.

UMass Dartmouth hosts Eastern Connecticut in its Little East Conference opener on Saturday afternoon at Cressy Field beginning at 1:00 pm, while Clark heads across town on Saturday afternoon for its New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference lid-lifter with WPI that also begins at 1:00 pm.
