NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Three different players scored goals to lead Connecticut College to a 3-1 non-league college women’s soccer victory over UMass Dartmouth Saturday afternoon at Freeman Field.
Freshman Mya Johnson (Old Lyme, Conn.) gave the host Camels (7-2) a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute when she tallied on a feed from senior Sara Kogelmann (Guilderland, N.Y.), and freshman Mary Parse (Orange, Mass.) extended that margin to 2-0 in the 37th minute on a pass from sophomore Marielle McEnaney (Orleans, Mass.). Freshman Claire Williams (Portsmouth, R.I.) collected Connecticut College’s final goal 91 seconds after intermission on a feed from senior Kelly Brigham (Norwich, Vt.), and sophomore Kaitlyn Bernier (Dartmouth, Mass.) accounted for the visiting Corsairs’ (1-9) marker just over two minutes later that was set up on a pass from junior Hannah Sousa (Fall River, Mass.).
Sophomore Veronica O’Rourke (Shelton, Conn.) picked up the win in goal by making one save in 27-plus minutes of play for the Camels, while junior Jaimee O’Brien (West Springfield, Mass.) made six stops in the setback for UMass Dartmouth. Connecticut College outshot the Corsairs by a 25-7 margin overall (9-4 on goal) and took seven of the eight corner kicks in the contest.
UMass Dartmouth hosts Bridgewater State in a non-league matchup on Tuesday evening at Cressy Field beginning at 7:00 pm, while Connecticut College travels to Mansfield, Conn. for a non-league contest with Eastern Connecticut on Tuesday afternoon that begins at 3:00 pm.
