Women's Soccer Suffers 1-0 Non-League Setback At Curry

MILTON, Mass. --  Freshman Madison Conway’s (West Springfield, Mass.) goal in the 57th minute of play lifted Curry to a 1-0 non-league college women’s soccer victory over UMass Dartmouth Monday evening at Katz Field.

After the teams played a scoreless opening half, Conway provided the deciding tally for the host Colonels (6-5) after converting a feed from sophomore Maddie Wilson (Millbury, Mass.), and freshman Oliver Hutchinson (Scituate, Mass.) took care of the rest in goal for Curry by making 11 saves (including a pair of point-blank stops in the closing minutes) to record the clean sheet triumph.

Junior Jaimee O’Brien (West Springfield, Mass.) made eight saves in suffering the tough luck setback on the night for the visiting Corsairs (1-7), who outshot the Colonels by a 11-9 margin on goal.  Curry held a 22-18 advantage in overall shots as well as a 5-4 edge in corner kicks for the contest.

UMass Dartmouth hosts UMass Boston in a Little East Conference clash on Wednesday evening at Cressy Field beginning at 7:00 pm, while Curry entertains Endicott in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match on Saturday evening at Katz Field that begins at 6:00 pm.
