Women's Soccer Drops 3-1 Senior Day Decision To Western Connecticut

DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  Freshman Myah Croze (Bristol, Conn.) netted a pair of goals, as Western Connecticut extended its winning streak to 11 straight with a 3-1 Little East Conference women’s soccer victory over UMass Dartmouth Saturday afternoon at Cressy Field.

Goals by Croze and junior Osheonna Israel (South Windsor, Conn.) that came 4:21 apart midway through the opening half staked the visiting Colonials (13-4-1, 7-0 LEC) to the early advantage, but the host Corsairs (3-13, 1-6 LEC) sliced that margin in half with 1:58 to play before intermission when sophomore Kalli Guillemette (Taunton, Mass.) converted feeds from freshman Acadia Cass (Westport, Mass.) and sophomore Jillian Prout (Dartmouth, Mass.).  Croze provided an insurance marker for Western Connecticut in the 57th minute when she lofted a shot from the left side for her 17th tally of the season that helped extend the visitors’ win skein.

Sophomore Kaleigh Panek (Shelton, Mass.) set up both first scores on the day for the Colonials, as fellow sophomore Karly Martin (Bristol, Conn.) picked up her 13th victory of the season with a three-save effort in goal.  Junior Jaimee O’Brien (West Springfield, Mass.) made 11 stops in the setback for UMass Dartmouth, as Western Connecticut outshot the Corsairs by a 24-8 margin overall (14-4 on goal) and took seven of the eight corner kicks in the contest.

UMass Dartmouth heads to Worcester, Mass. on Wednesday evening to take on Worcester State in a non-league outing beginning at 7:00 pm, while Western Connecticut entertains Stevens in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday evening in Danbury, Conn. that begins at 6:00 pm.
