NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's swimming team won 11 of 16 events and defeated visiting Plymouth State, 160.5-121.5, in a dual meet at the Tripp Athletic Center Saturday.

Sophomore Morgan Cooper (Sunderland, MA/Frontier Regional HS) won three events, taking the 200 yard freestyle in 2:04.09, the 50 yard freestyle in 27.39 seconds, and the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:14.04. Senior Meredith Maki (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional HS) and junior Maggie Conlon (Methuen, MA/Methuen HS) each won twice, with Maki taking the 1000 yard freestyle in 11:40.09 and the 200 yard individual medley in 2:26.16, and Conlon winning the 50 yard backstroke in 31.44 seconds, and the 50 yard butterfly in 29.52 seconds. The other winners were senior Kim Moore (Billerica, MA/Billerica HS), who won the 500 yard freestyle in 5:49.83, and junior Lindsay Days(Mattapoisett, MA/Bishop Stang HS), who took the 50 yard breaststroke in 36.27 seconds.

The Corsairs also won two relays, with the team of freshman Amanda Couture (Fall River, MA/Durfee HS), Days, Conlon and freshman Leslie Martin(Pittsfield, MA/Pittsfield HS) winning the 200 yard medley relay in 2:04.59, and the group of Conlon, Cooper, Maki and Couture took first in the 400 yard freestyle relay in 4:03.45.

"We had a very nice meet today," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Cathy Motta. "Our team and coaching staff are extremely excited about the way we are swimming. Although our team is tired, we are still qualifying people to swim at the New England Championships. It's been a long week, swimming three meets in five days. We are looking forward to our last meet of the regular season next Saturday against Colby-Sawyer."

UMass Dartmouth's women are now 4-6, while the PSU women are also 4-6.

The Corsairs will return to action when they host Colby-Sawyer next Saturday, while the Panthers will host Simmons next Saturday.
