NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's swimming teams were topped by visiting Bentley at the Tripp Athletic Center Pool Saturday. The men fell short 164-131, while the women were upended by a total score of 183-103.

On the women's side, Corsair freshman Morgan Cooper (Sunderland, Mass./Frontier Regional HS) was the top UMass Dartmouth performer of the day, winning three events. The Sunderland, Mass. native picked up two butterfly victories, winning the 50 yard event with a time of 28.09 seconds and taking the 100 yard race with a time of 1:04:47. Cooper also won the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 57.99 seconds. Freshman Maggie Conlon (Methuen, Mass./Methuen HS) registered the only other event victory for the women's team Saturday. Conlon swam the 50 yard freestyle in 26.85 seconds to record the win.

For the men, junior Craig Johnson (Acushnet, Mass./New Bedford HS) and junior Matt Fahey (New Bedford, Mass./New Bedford HS) led the squad with two wins each. Johnson won both the 50 yard freestyle and the 50 yard butterfly with times of 22.42 and 24.23 seconds, respectively. Fahey claimed first in both the one meter dive with 242.50 points and the three meter dive with a score of 271.10.

Johnson teamed up with freshman Matt Dean (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry HS), junior Andrew Haughey (West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield HS), and freshman Jake Pesante (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingston HS) to win the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:28.97. Pesante claimed an individual victory in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.90.

Junior Steve Szarek (Middletown, Conn./Middletown HS) came away with the only other men's event victory, claiming a win in the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 29.33 seconds. The Corsair men are now 2-2, and the women are 1-3. Bentley's men are 2-2, and the women are 3-1. The Corsair women will return to action when they travel to Eastern Connecticut State Wednesday evening, December 2nd. The Falcons will host the Northeast 10 Invitational December 5th and 6th.
