Masse also was a conference and Alliance champion, finishing first in the shot put and setting a meet record with a throw of 40 feet, six inches. . "Jessica has had an outstanding freshman campaign," said Gardiner. "Her high school coach at Somerville, Charles O'Rourke, was an integral part of her development as both a student and as an athlete, and that work has paid off during her freshman year at UMass Dartmouth."
