DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Sophomore Mallory Singer (Succasunna, N.J.) notched seven kills and three block assists to lead UMass Dartmouth to a 3-0 non-league college volleyball victory over Bridgewater State by game scores of 25-16, 25-19 and 25-15 in a match played Tuesday evening at the Tripp Athletic Center.
Sophomore Emma Aillet (Deer Park, Tex.) added seven kills in the triumph for the host Corsairs (6-10), who received six kills and 14 digs from senior Nicole Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.). Freshman Nora Craft (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and junior Tashneal Africa (Chelsea, Mass.) combined for nine kills on the night for UMass Dartmouth, which received a combined 24 set assists and seven service aces from senior Jordan Rittberger (Huntington, N.Y.) and junior Riley Thomas (Fairhaven, Mass.). Senior Jillian Sykora (Waterford, Conn.) recorded 14 digs for the hosts, who received six digs from fellow senior Meghan Mullinax (Lake Balboa, Calif.).
Junior Sydney Rice (Medway, Mass.) registered six kills in the setback for the visiting Bears (6-8), who received four kills and nine digs from junior Abigail Gardner (Holden, Mass.) along with three kills and seven digs from junior Gabryella Serrano (Bridgewater, Mass.). Junior Casey Holmes (Norton, Mass.) collected 15 set assists and six digs for Bridgewater State, which received seven digs from freshman Victoria Caiano (New Bedford, Mass.).
UMass Dartmouth hosts Southern Maine and Smith in a tri-match on Saturday afternoon at the Tripp Athletic Center beginning at Noon, while Bridgewater State heads to Plymouth, N.H. on Saturday afternoon for a non-league tri-match with Rhode Island College and host Plymouth State that begins at 2:00 pm.
