Walsh Named As Little East Women's Cross Country Runner Of The Week

UMass Dartmouth junior Taylor Walsh was named as the Little East Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week on Monday afternoon following her performance at last Saturday’s season-opening Fitchburg State Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational in Leominster, Mass.

Walsh, a native of Groveland, Mass. and a graduate of Pentucket Regional High School, chopped a full 1:13 off her time from last year on the 5K Doyle Conservation Area course, as she posted an eighth place time of 19:40 in a field of 126 runners.  Taylor’s effort helped propel the Corsairs to a fifth place finish in the final team standings, as UMass Dartmouth finished just behind Division II Bentley and four points ahead of defending Little East champion Keene State.

Head Coach Mike Salem’s squad will be idle until Saturday, September 21st when the Corsairs host the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on the Bob Dowd Course beginning at Noon EDT.
