PLYMOUTH, N.H.— University of Massachusetts Dartmouth first-year
Tahlia Amaral (Acushnet, Mass.) reached double digits in saves for the second time this season, but Plymouth State University proved too strong to earn a 19-2 Little East Conference victory this afternoon in women's lacrosse match at Panther Field.
Plymouth State remained unbeaten on the campaign to raise its overall record to 3-0, while the Corsairs dropped to 0-4.
In her fourth start of the season, Amaral registered her second highest save total. She posted six saves in the first half and seven in the second stanza to finish with 13 in 60 minutes of action.
Sophomore
Beatriz Tavares (New Bedford, Mass.) and first-year
Melanny Sanchez Alvarez (Stamford, Conn.) each scored to lead the UMass Dartmouth attack. Junior
Hannah Niemi (Fairhaven, Mass.) won a pair of draw controls, while first-year
Widline Thomas (Stamford, Conn.) and Amaral scooped up three ground balls each.
Sophomore Emily Santom (Litchfield, N.H.) registered a career-high seven goals to pace the Panthers, while classmate Olivia Croke (Norwell, Mass.) contributed two goals and four assists for six points. Senior Elizabeth McLaughlin (Melvin Village, N.H.) and first-year Tarryn O'Brien (Weymouth, Mass.) each posted a hat trick and four total points. Senior Meaghan Allard (Amherst, N.H.) made six saves to earn the win.
UMass Dartmouth will return to action at 12pm on Saturday, April 17, when the Corsairs travel to Eastern Connecticut for a Little East Conference match. The Warriors won the earlier match up against the Corsairs, 22-9, in Dartmouth.
