UMass Dartmouth Defeats Lesley, 7-2

The Corsairs won two out of three in doubles and five of six in singles

Box Score ARLINGTON, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's tennis team snapped a small, two match, losing streak with a 7-2 victory at Lesley Sunday afternoon.

The Corsairs (4-2) won two out of the three doubles matches and five of six in singles, while the Lynx (0-6) were unable to capture their first win of the season.

"Overall we did a nice job in singles," said Head Coach Doug Chapman. "We played with more consistency and that made a big difference. The first four singles players all won handedly after some tight doubles pro-sets."

The pair of junior Alanna O'Connell and sophomore Ailey Riddick won their doubles match (8-3). Also winning in doubles in a tight match were senior Jackie Bokis and Jordan Beals (8-6).

Defeating their opponents in singles were senior Yasemin Kurtis (6-0, 6-0), Bokis (6-1, 6-1), O'Connell (6-4, 6-0), Riddick (6-0, 6-2) and Beals (6-3, 6-1).

UMass Dartmouth is on the road again for a Tuesday match at Salem State at 3:30 p.m.
