BEVERLY, Mass. -Â After falling behind 1-2 in doubles, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's tennis team won five out of six in singles to defeat Salem State, 6-3, Tuesday afternoon at the Bass River Club.
The Corsairs (5-2, 3-1 LEC) have now won two matches in a row, while the Vikings (1-6, 1-2 LEC) lose after picking up their first win of the year in the previous match.
"We were behind 1-2 after the doubles, but did an excellent in singles," said Head Coach
Doug Chapman. "
Emma Sokolovsky played her first match since the 2018 season, and she did an outstanding job in singles and doubles. We are 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Little East Conference. I don't think anyone expected that. The team spirit is excellent, and we need to continue to build on that. Bass River is
McKenzie Ferrari's home club. and she was right at home in her singles match."

Alanna O'Connell won their doubles match, 8-1.
Singles had work to do in a 1-2 disadvantage. Winning their singles matches were senior
Jackie Bokis (6-0, 6-0), Sokolovsky (6-1, 6-0), O'Connell (6-2, 6-0), Ferrari (6-0, 6-0) and senior
Jordan Beals (6-3, 1-6, 10-8).
The Corsairs are back in action against Bridgewater State at 12 p.m. on Saturday at the
Doug Chapman Courts.
