DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's tennis team returned to its winning ways with an 8-1, non-conference, victory over Suffolk University Friday afternoon.
The Corsairs improve to 10-5 on the season, reaching the 10-victory milestone for the 13th time in program history, while the Rams fall to 1-9.
"It was the first time in over two weeks that we had all of our starters together," said Head Coach
Doug Chapman. "It was good to get back on the winning path before our final Little East Conference regular season match."
Juniors
IsaBella Winter and
Ailey Riddick swept first doubles, while junior Caroline and Lemieux and sophomore
Claire Yang won third doubles, 8-4, to set the tone for the match.
The Corsairs swept singles. Winter won her first singles match (6-3, 6-2), while freshman
Zuri Walters returned to the lineup to take second singles (6-3, 6-0). Also winning singles were Yang (6-2, 6-7 (7-2), senior
Alanna O'Connell (6-2, 6-0), Riddick (6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 10-7) and freshman
Bailey Clarke (6-2, 6-1).
UMass Dartmouth closes the regular season on Saturday at 1 p.m. at home against Western Connecticut for Blue & Gold Weekend.
