Season Comes to a Close in LEC Quarterfinal Round

Melanny Sanchez Alvarez and Claire Petersen scored for the Corsairs

KEENE, N.H. - The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth lacrosse team saw its season come to an end Tuesday night at Keene State, losing 15-2, in the quarterfinal round of the Little East Conference Tournament.

Sophomores Melanny Sanchez Alvarez and Claire Petersen scored the two goals for the Corsairs. Junior Payton Conceicao finished with 10 saves to close the year with 216 stops. It was the first playoff appearance in four years for UMass Dartmouth.

Keene State took a 10-0 lead into halftime with three goals in the first quarter and seven more in the second.

Sanchez Alvarez put the Corsairs on the board to begin the second half. It was her 59th goal of the season. Keene State sent home two more goals in the third quarter as the UMass Dartmouth defense stepped up.

After the Owls made it 14-1, Petersen's goal came with 3:48 to go to make it 14-2. Keene State got one more to go to finish it off.

Keene State moves on to play Plymouth State in the seminal round. UMass Dartmouth will prepare for the 2023 season.
