DARTMOUTH, Mass. - Powered by goals from nine different players, Western Connecticut State University posted a 15-3 win over UMass Dartmouth in Little East women's lacrosse action on Tuesday evening. The win moves the Wolves to 9-5 overall with a perfect 4-0 mark in conference play, while the Corsairs slip to 8-5 on the season and 1-3 in the Little East.
Leading the way for the Wolves was graduate attack Alexa Riggio, who posted four goals with three assists, adding a ground ball for Western Connecticut. Sophomore attacker Madison Ratchford posted three goals with two ground balls and two caused turnovers, while senior midfielder Vicky Gracy had two goals and a helper, adding two ground balls, two caused turnovers and three draw controls. Sophomore defender Natalie Mazza posted a game-best six draw controls, while senior goalie Molly Bresnahan earned the win with eight saves.Â

The opening 30 minutes of the contest was a dominant Wolves display as the visitors fired off four goals in the opening quarter, followed by seven straight in the second quarter for the 11-0 lead at halftime. Pacing the way was Riggio, who recorded four goals, including two in each quarter.
Western Connecticut saw rookie defender Anneliese Reggio score to open the third off a pass from Riggio, putting the visitors up 12-0 before the Corsairs finally broke through with Thomas notching her 36th of the season at 10:20.Â
Trailing 14-1 into the fourth quarter, Thomas struck again for the homestanding Corsairs at 8:12, burying a feed from senior attack
Hannah Mitus. The Wolves got one back and Sanchez Alvarez netted her 55th of the season at 3:47, but that tally was the final goal of the night for either squad.
UMass Dartmouth is now idle until Saturday when it travels to Rhode Island College for an 11am Little East tilt against the Anchorwomen.Â
