NEWTON, Mass. – Powered by a five-goal performance from sophomore attacker
Maddy Allen, the UMass Dartmouth women's lacrosse team defeated UMass Boston, 13-12, on the road in Little East Conference (LEC) action on Wednesday afternoon. The Corsairs move to 3-1 in league play with the victory over the Beacons who fall to an 0-4 LEC record.
The Beacons snagged an early 4-0 lead in the opening period of the game before Allen notched the first score of the day for the Corsairs with 13 seconds remaining to make it 4-1 heading into the second quarter. UMass Boston responded by netting three straight goals in the last four minutes of the half to regain a 7-6 advantage. Allen notched her second goal of the afternoon with 1:41 on the clock to knot the score up at 7-apeice at halftime.
In the third period, the Beacons tallied three goals, featuring two from Teresa Sheedy, to take a 10-7 lead. Lipanovich buried the ball into the back of the net on the man-advantage followed by Allen's third goal of the day to narrow UMass Boston's lead down to one goal entering the final period.

Jade Munoz opened the fourth period by tying the score up at 10-10 with her fourth score of the season. After Emily Pearl gave the Beacons back an 11-10 edge, Lipanovich and Allen each posted a goal apiece to reclaim a 12-11 advantage with under six minutes left in the game. Despite a late score by the Beacons to tie the game up for the third time in the period, Allen called the game with her fifth goal of the afternoon to lift UMass Dartmouth over UMass Boston by a final score of 13-12.
Allen led the team with her five-goal performance for five points to go along with a team-high seven draw control wins. Lipanovich followed with four goals for four points in the win posting two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Keira Bushey picked up her ninth win in net for the Corsairs after playing the entire game. She recorded 11 total saves and allowed 12 goals to help UMass Dartmouth defeat UMass Boston on the road. Emerson Homa started the game making three stops and allowing six goals before Elizabeth Crowley finished the contest for the Beacons with five saves and allowing seven goals.
UMass Dartmouth hosts Keene State College for their next Little East tilt on Wednesday, April 16. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. from Cressy Field.
