PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Little East Conference has announced its weekly honorees in men's cross country and UMass Dartmouth student-athlete
Cameron Thompson has been recognized. The junior captain garnered his first Runner of the Week honor after an outstanding effort last weekend.
The Sherborn, Mass., native paced the way for the Corsairs at the 52nd Annual UMass Dartmouth Invitational. He finished 12th overall in a field of 253 runners with a personal best time of 24:51.36 in the 8k event on the Coach Robert Dowd Course.
Thompson finished first among all Division III runners and led all Little East runners in the field – in addition to being one of just 16 runners on the day to post a sub-25 minute effort. His 24:51.31 surpassed his previous PR mark of 26:02.0 – set at the 2024 Little East Cross Country Championships.
It has been an outstanding 2025 campaign for Thompson – who has paced the Corsairs men's squad in all three meets this season. He opened the year with a 14th place finish at the Suffolk Short Course 5k with a personal best time of 16:01.8. He then recorded fifth overall in the 5k at the George Suitor Invitational at Trinity with a time of 16:41.7.
UMass Dartmouth returns to the course on Friday, October 3 when it travels to Lehigh University to compete in the Paul Short Run. The men's race gets underway at 12:15pm with the women's race beginning at 1pm.
