DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Under perfect blue skies, the Corsairs women's cross country team hosted the 53rd Annual UMass Dartmouth Invitational at the Coach Robert Dowd Course on Saturday. The Corsairs finished 16th overall among 33 teams in the Gold varsity 6k race, while UMD posted 13th of 16 squads in the Navy sub-varsity event.
Senior
Sarah Lynch paced the way in the Gold event, crossing the line in 23:02.62 for 56th overall. Sophomore
Alexah Pedder crossed in a time of 24:18.82 for 101st overall, while junior
Sara Lopez finished 107th in 24:25.40. Sophomore
Elena Aponte recorded a time of 24:45.19 for 118th as senior
Serena Carnes finished 122nd overall in 24:51.69.
Junior
Ashlyn Byrnes took 146th overall in 25:23.13, while classmate
Alexia Gonsalves was 152nd with a mark of 25:35.66. Rookie
Ava Brunswick powered her way to 153rd overall in 25:38.25, while sophomore
Nicole Mota notched a time of 25:40.05 for 154th. Senior
Liv DeSimone rounded out the action in the race, posting a time of 26:05.67 for 165th.
In the Navy race, rookie
Maria Avery-Pham led the way with a time of 28:00.15 for 122nd overall, while classmate
Amya Moura was right behind in 123rd with a time of 28:00.38. Sophomore
Raeleigh Levesque crossed the line with a time of 28:26.72 for 133rd overall, while rookie
Ana Machado placed 142nd in a time of 29:12.25.
Rookie
Evellyn Silva-Lima was next across, posting 165th overall in 31:57.97, while classmate
Elsa Sedgwick was 172nd on the day with a time of 34:36.71.
The Corsairs return to action on Friday, October 2 when several individuals will compete at the Paul Short Run at Lehigh. Other members of the team will be in action on October 3 at the Keene State Invitational.
