DARTMOUTH, Mass. - After a highly successful first week of the 2026 season,
Magali Breur and
Tamia McQueen were selected as this week's LEC Player and Rookie of the week.
Breur, a graduate-student out of Aalsmeer, Netherlands, kicked off the season with two two-set sweeps over Lesley (6-0, 6-3), and Thomas (6-0, 6-0), who she didn't lose a single point to.
Breur teamed up with
Ava Aguiar in the doubles portion of both matches and emerged victorious in both. The duo won 6-2 against Lesley, and then 6-4 versus Thomas.
She begins her career in the blue and gold 2-0 in both singles and doubles matches.
McQueen was selected as this week's LEC Rookie of the Week after beginning her collegiate career 2-0 in both singles and doubles.
The Bridgewater, Mass. native didn't waste any time in the season home opener, winning in a two-set sweep (6-0, 6-0) versus Lesley. Despite falling behind in the first set on Friday, McQueen powered her way to two straight 6-0 sets to emerge victorious against Thomas (3-6, 6-0, 6-0).
McQueen's impactful opening match continued with yet another 6-0 sweep in doubles. Her and teammate
Gianna Doiron cruised to a perfect week beating Thomas 6-2 in doubles.
