AAU SPRINGBOARD DIVING PROGRAM
UMass Dartmouth Aquatics is proud to announce a partnership with South Shore Diving Club to offer a top notch AAU Diving Program at the Tripp Athletic Center Natatorium! Practice sessions to be offered on Sunday, Monday and Thursday evenings beginning in September!

            LIFEGUARD TRAINING AND RECERTIFICATION CLASSES
UMass Dartmouth will be offering the American Red Cross Certification Course this Spring for UMass Dartmouth students, staff, affiliates and community members.
 The program will consist of American Red Cross Training in the areas of:
Lifeguarding; First Aid, CPR for the Professional Lifeguard and Automated External Defibrillation (AED)
Waterfront Certification (Optional)
Class hours will be held in the Tripp Athletic Center with classroom time in the Hall of Fame Room.Â
Classes will be held on on the following date:
Sunday, May 1, 2022 | 9am - 4pm

PRE-COURSE SWIM TEST:    All participants must pass the Pre-Course Swim Test being held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 9am - 12pm to enroll in the course. The test consists of the following requirements:Â
- Swim 300 yards (12 laps) or 500 yards (20 laps) continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim performing the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. Swimming on the back is not allowed.
- Tread water for 2 minutes using only legs. Hands shall be placed under armpits.
- Diving brick retrieval from a depth of 13 feet.
 All participants must be 15 years of age prior to the first day of class.
Attendance on swim test date is required.
Class size limited to 20 persons on a first come, first serve basis.

Course Materials: Participants will be provided with a lifeguard manual and pocket mask via the American Red Cross. Participants should be prepared to swim each class session. Manuals and pocket masks will be required for each class.
