Meghan Griffin was hired as the head coach of women’s lacrosse in August of 2021, becoming the sixth head coach in the program's 26-year history. During her five seasons with the Corsairs, the women’s lacrosse program has earned 33 wins, and has appeared in four Little East conference tournaments.
In her fifth season at the helm of the Corsairs, Griffin led the team to four wins. Junior Maddy Allen ranked top five in the conference in goals (53) and goals per game (3.12). Allen was selected to the All-LEC Second team for her efforts, while teammate Emma Terino joined her on that list. Terino ranked sixth in the conference in goals per game (2.67), totaling 24 during the 2026 season. Sophomore Keira Bushey took home the conference’s Goalkeeper of the Year award, becoming the first Corsair in program history to be selected. In 912:51 minutes Bushey recorded a conference high 186 saves and a .474 save percentage.
Under the tutelage of Griffin in 2025, the Corsairs were victorious in nine games for the second straight season, tied for the most since the 2018 season. The Corsairs saw three conference wins during the season, which is tied for the most since the 2004 season. An outstanding first half of the season allowed the season allowed the Corsairs to record their best home record (5-3) since the 2018 season. Griffin and the Corsairs enjoyed dominant wins over Castleton Regis (17-2), Castleton (19-3), and Rhode Island College (18-7) enroute to the 9-9 season. Sophomore Maddy Allen’s 71 goals propelled her to top three status in the conference, where averaged 3.89 goals per game.
The 2024 season saw Corsairs post a 9-8 overall record while securing a Little East Conference postseason berth for the third straight season. Melanny Sanchez Alvarez completed her career with her third consecutive spot on the First Team All-LEC. First years Maddy Allen and Lily Nees also posted standout seasons on the offensive and defensive ends of the field, respectively. Allen ranked second behind Sanchez Alvarez in goals (57) and draw controls (78), while Nees ranked second behind Sanchez Alvarez in ground balls (59) and caused turnovers (41).
After an opening season at the helm in 2022 that saw her squad go 3-14, Griffin guided UMass Dartmouth to an 8-8 record during the 2023 campaign - which included a Little East Playoff Berth. Ten different players tallied points on the season, led by rookie midfielder Maddie Wright, who set a new program single season record in points (108), goals (88), free position goals (27) and draw controls (115).
Wright was named the 2023 Little East Rookie of the Year, leading the conference in goals, points and shots per game. Additionally, Wright and junior midfielder Melanny Sanchez Alvarez were both tabbed to the First Team All-LEC, while junior defender Claire Petersen was a Second Team All-LEC honoree. The Corsairs secured the sixth-seed in the LEC Tournament, falling to third-seeded Southern Maine in the Quarterfinal Round.
Griffin joined the UMass Dartmouth staff after two seasons as a member of the coaching staff at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. In her two shortened seasons at Colby due to COVID-19, the Mules compiled an 8-3 record, and went 4-1 against NESCAC competition. Under Griffin’s guidance, Colby outscored opponents, 151-107, and ranked second in the NESCAC in goals per game (13.60), assists per game (5.60) and points per game (19.20). Her teams were nationally ranked as well, in 2021 Colby ranked as high as No. 7 nationally and notched a No. 16 mark in 2020 in the IWLCA Coaches Polls. Griffin also coached three All-Americans, three IWLCA All-Region players and five All-NESCAC selections.
Prior to Colby, Griffin spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Wheaton College from 2017-2019. With the Lyons, Griffin coached six all-NEWMAC players, and the team improved from reaching to the quarterfinal of the conference tournament in 2018 to making the semifinal in 2019.
Before Wheaton, Griffin served as the Head Coach of Women’s Lacrosse at Wheelock College from 2013-2017. While at Wheelock, she guided the Wildcats to four consecutive program-best seasons, finishing with a 10-7 overall record in 2017. The team advanced to three NECC semifinal contests as well as a conference championship in 2015. The women’s lacrosse program under Griffin earned IWLCA Academic Honor Squad for three seasons, posting 3.59 and 3.54 team GPAs in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
A native of Billerica, Mass., Griffin began her career coaching at Bridgewater State where she roamed the sidelines for three seasons from 2011-2013. The Bears amassed a 46-13 record, earning three conference titles and three NCAA tournament appearances.
As a student-athlete at BSU, Griffin helped the Bears to three New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance championships and a 2010 NCAA tournament bid. Following her senior season, she was selected as the New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance Goalkeeper of the Year and was named to the All-NEWLA First Team. She finished her career as the program’s all-time leader in wins and turned away a school-record 194 shots in a single season.
Griffin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education from Bridgewater State University in 2011.
