Owen Worden is in his first seson as the Head Coach of Swimming & Diving.

Worden most recently held the title of Recreation Supervisor II and Certified Pool Operator at UMassD since 2018, where he was responsible for maintenance, operations and scheduling of the six lane competition pool and diving well for the women's swimming and diving team and recreational use at the Tripp Athletic Center.

Worden previously served as the Assistant Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at UMassD from 2012 to 2020. He has also worked as the Recreational Facilities Supervisor and Lifeguard Supervisor at Horseneck Beach from 2008 to 2017.

Before arriving at UMassD, Worden served as an Aquatics Leader Intern at Brown University.

Worden has held many titles, including the Associate Head Coach at the Kingfish Swimming Club, and the Pool Manager / Lifeguard at Middleborough Public Schools.

"We are delighted to have Owen rejoining the department full-time and coaching the women's swimming team," said Moulton. "Owen was an integral part of the swimming and diving program previously, so his knowledge and expertise will be a significant positive during the transition. We are very happy to have him back and look forward to utilizing his skills for the betterment of the department."

A 2012 graduate of Colby-Sawyer College and member of the swim team, Worden was a two-year captain, three-time swimmer of the year, and received the Chargers' Male Scholar Athlete Award in 2012. Worden then earned his master's degree in Athletic Administration from Southern New Hampshire University in 2018. 

An avid surfer, Worden was born and raised in New Bedford, and now resides in Fall River with his fiancée, Stacey.
