Amie Canfield was named the Director of Athletic Communications at UMass Dartmouth in February of 2023. In her role, she oversees all aspects of media relations and gameday statistics for all 19 Corsairs athletic programs, including the primary contact for 11 of UMass Dartmouth's teams. Since her arrival in the Spring of 2023, she has helped promote the success of 10 conference champion squads, along with eight team NCAA Tournament appearances. Additionally, Canfield has helped promote countless individuals at multiple NCAA Track & Field Championships - including a two-time All-American hurdler in 2024. 
In addition to her duties in Athletic Communications, Canfield is also a member of the Corsairs Senior Leadership Team. She also helps organize the Corsair Hall of Fame selections, the department's NCAA Woman of the Year and Little East Man of the Year honorees, along with all visual materials (graphic and video) for The Arnies - the department's annual year-end awards show. 

Prior to UMass Dartmouth, Canfield served as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications at Vassar College. There she oversaw all aspects of media relations and gameday statistics for all of the Brewers' 29 athletic programs, including the primary contact for 15 of Vassar's teams. In addition, she oversaw the promotion of Vassar's NCAA Woman of the Year honorees, including one in the top-9 and top-30. She also worked in partnership with vendors for the creation of multiple sport championship banners, as well as the 1,000 point banners for men's and women's basketball. Canfield also worked to develop the bylaws and structure for the Vassar Athletics Hall of Fame.

Canfield came to the Brewers from Mount Holyoke College, where she served a seven-year tenure in Athletic Communications. In August of 2016, she was elevated to the role of Associate Director of Athletics for Communications having first served as the Sports Information Director and Scheduling Coordinator. In her role, Canfield was responsible for all aspects of media relations and gameday statistics for the Lyons' 14 varsity programs.

Canfield helped further develop the Lyons' Athletic Communications Office, adding online broadcasts of home athletic events, as well as establishing the department's YouTube and Instagram pages. Additionally, she also oversaw various areas of game management, all departmental publications, and also served as part of the department administrative team. 

 A member of Mount Holyoke's Hall of Fame Committee, Canfield played a significant role in the design and development of the department's Hall of Fame Wall, located in the Kendall Sports and Dance Complex. In addition to the above mentioned roles, Canfield was also the staff liaison for Mount Holyoke’s six club sport teams, including Dressage, Fencing, Ice Hockey, Rugby, Ultimate Frisbee and Western Riding.

 A member of a number of committees across the Mount Holyoke campus, she served a two-year term as the Chair of the NEWMAC SID Committee and was also a member of the Athletic Administrators' Group (AAG).

Additionally, Canfield also served as the Chair for the NEWMAC Strategic Communications Committee and also sat on the NEWMAC Awards Committee during the 2015-16 academic year.

Prior to joining the Mount Holyoke staff, Canfield served for seven years as the sports information assistant at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York. Her responsibilities included assisting the director in the handling of all the publicity and public relations for Rensselaer’s 21 Division III varsity sports, as well as the two Division I hockey teams. In addition to serving as the primary contact for women's ice hockey, she assisted in editing and designing of department publications, statistical compilation, game-day obligations, press box management, student worker oversight and media coordination.
 
Prior to Rensselaer, Canfield worked as a part-time assistant for three years in the Office of Athletic Communications at the University of Vermont where she worked primarily with the men’s and women’s ice hockey programs. In addition, she worked as a member of the statistical crew for both the men’s and women’s basketball and men’s and women’s lacrosse programs.
 
A 2003 graduate of Vermont with a bachelor’s degree in English, Canfield served as a volunteer at numerous tournaments and championships, including the 2009, 2007 & 2014 NCAA Women's Ice Hockey Frozen Four and the 2012 IIHF Women’s World Hockey Championships. 

Canfield served as President of the D3SIDA Board of Directors during the 2023-24 academic year, having served as the 1st Vice President and 2nd Vice President over the previous two years. She will serve as Past President in 2024-25 before concluding her service on the board. During the 2023-24 academic year, Canfield also served as the Chair of the College Sports Communications Division III Council. Previously, Canfield served as the Region 1 Representative on the D3SIDA Board from 2015-17. 

Additionally, Canfield serves as National Coordinator for the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-America Core Committee. She has been a member of the committee since 2013 and was elevated to the National Coordinator position prior to the start of the 2018-19 season. Canfield is also a member of the CSC Special Awards Committee.


Canfield, a native of St. Johnsbury, Vt., is an active member of the College Sports Communicators (formerly College Sports Information Directors Association of America) and served the final year of a three-year term as the College Division Representative - Northeast Region on the CSC Board of Directors in 2019-20. She also served as a founding committee member and one of the East Region representatives for the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Division III National Player of the Week Selection Committee since the 2015 season.

In the summer of 2014, Canfield was named to the NCAA Division III CoSIDA Convention Planning Committee, where she was actively involved with the planning for Division III Day at the convention in 2015, 2016 & 2017. She also served on the College Division Management Advisory Committee.


In the summer of 2015, Canfield was honored as the 2015 CoSIDA Rising Star Award - College Division winner. She was also a member of the CoSIDA Strategic Planning Committee during 2015-16 and was honored with the 2016 CoSIDA President's Award for her work with the group. Most recently, Canfield was recognized once again as a President's Award winner, earning the honor following the 2023-24 season from CSC President John Paquette for her work as President of D3SIDA and the Chair of the CSC Division III Cabinet and service to the Advisory Council.
