Melanny Sanchez Alvarez was named an Assistant Coach for the Corsairs women's lacrosse program for the 2025 season. 

Sanchez Alvarez was a decorated member of the women's lacrosse squad from 2021 through 2024 garnering 56 starts in 57 games played during her career at UMass Dartmouth. She recorded 191 goals and 51 assists for 242 points in her career to go along with 281 draw controls, 203 ground balls, and 148 caused turnovers. Sanchez Alvarez registered 387 shots with 285 on-goal for a 73.6 on-goal shooting percentage. Of her 191 career goals, 11 of them were game-winners, 18 were man-up, and four were man-down. 

She concluded her impressive career at UMass Dartmouth as a three-time All-Little East Conference First Team selection. Sanchez Alvarez also collected Little East Conference All-Academic Team for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
