Ralph Perry

In his 12 seasons coaching women'stennis at UMass Dartmouth, Ralph Perry has seen his teams compilean ourtstanding record of success.

 

Perry's record of 94-72 ranks asthe best among UMD women's tennis coaches, and he is six wins shortof becoming the first Corsair women's tennis coach to win 100matches.


Last season, the Corsairs went 12-2 and advanced to the LittleEast Conference finals, losing in the championship match toBridgewater State.

Two years ago, the Corsairs posted the best season in programhistory, compiling a 15-2 overall record,winning the Little EastConference Tournament and advancing to the NCAA Division IIIChampionships for the first time.


Theformer boys' tennis coach at New Bedford High School for 15seasons, Perry has been a teacher and coach throughout southeasternMassachusetts for more than 30 years. Currently, Perry teachesscience at Sea Lab in New Bedford and has taught in the Sea Labsummer program since 1993.

 

Perry's coaching experience alsoincludes several years as varsity softball coach at Old RochesterRegional High School, where he also coached freshmanbasketball.

Perry earned his bachelor's degree in Physical Education fromSouthern Arkansas University and his master's degree inInsutruction Technology from Rhode Island College.

In addition to his work with the women's tennis program at UMassDartmouth, Perry was the Corsairs' interim women's softball coachfor the 2003 season and he was an assistant coach during the 2006season. He also was the longtime official scorer for basketball atUMass Dartmouth.
