Box Score SPRINGFIELD, MA-Jessica Miller scored midway through the second sudden death overtime period to lift host Springfield past the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's soccer team, 1-0, in a non-conference match at the Irv Schmid Sports Complex Saturday.
Miller converted a pass from Julie Cormier with 4:38 remaining for the only goal of the game.
Springfield outshot UMass Dartmouth, 18-5.
Lucy Gillett made two saves for the Pride. Junior Shelby Friedland (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS), who replaced starting freshman goalkeeper Nicole Butts (Milford, MA/Mount St. Charles Academy) 11:38 into the game, made 11 saves in relief for the Corsairs.
UMass Dartmouth dropped to 3-2-0 with the defeat,, while Springfield improved to 3-1-0 with the victory. The Corsairs will return to action when they visit Wentworth Wednesday evening. The Pride will host Amherst Wednesday.
