Bears Sail Past Corsairs, 3-0

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University volleyball team won a pair of closely-contested sets en route to a 3-0 victory over visiting University of Massachusetts Dartmouth this evening in a NCAA Division III volleyball match at the Tinsley Center. 

The Bears won 25-21, 25-23, and 25-16 to raise their overall record to 7-6, while the Corsairs slipped to 4-6.

Junior outside hitter Jasmine Burris (New Bedford, Mass.) led the attack for UMass Dartmouth, finishing with 10 kills and seven digs.  Sophomore Christina Spinazola (Medway, Mass.) filled up the box score with 26 assists, three kills, six digs and an ace, while junior Eliza Bowes (West Yarmouth, Mass.) produced nine kills and three aces.

Sophomore outside hitter Hannah Maymon (Narragansett, R.I.) powered the Bridgewater State attack with 14 kills and 13 digs, while freshman middle hitter Christina Jaros (Plymouth, Mass.) and junior middle hitter Julie Hutchins (Bellingham, Mass.) added 10 and nine winners, respectively.  Senior right side Sarah Mullarkey (Salem, Mass.) chipped in with 16 digs, four kills and a pair of aces for the Bears, while sophomore setter Charleyne Panner (Gilford, N.H.) recorded 35 assists and 19 digs

UMass Dartmouth will return to action on Sept. 20, when the Corsairs open the Little East Conference circuit at Western Connecticut State University.  UMass Dartmouth will also face the College of New Rochelle.
