Records: Bridgewater State (6-6-2) | UMass Dartmouth (9-5-1)
How it Happened
Bridgewater State struck early and often, as the Bears jumped out to a 3-0 lead within the first 28 minutes. Two of the three BSU goals came off corners, and the other off a penalty kick by sophomore Felipe Gomes (Fogo, Cape Verde).
UMass Dartmouth's offense chipped into the early Bear lead in the 31st minute, as Vidal dribbled around a defender on the end line and found Stephan Teixeira (Brockton, Mass.) cutting through the box, who buried it in the bottom left corner.
After another Bridgewater State goal to bring the deficit to the 4-1, the Corsairs offense came alive in the second half. Vidal added a goal of his own in the 54th minute when he wove through the BSU backline and drove the shot into the bottom left corner of the cage.
UMass Dartmouth would whittle the lead down to one in the waning minutes of the game. After a save off Vidal's penalty kick, Austin Dias (Smithfield, R.I.) corralled the rebound and converted to beat goalkeeper Nate Morgado (Dartmouth, Mass.)
The Corsairs had their chances late, including two corner kicks, but the Bears were able to hold off the offensive onslaught.
