How it Happened
The Anchorwomen took advantage of Corsair errors early, jumping out to a 10-point lead in the first set before an Olivia Wallett (Willington, Conn.) kill stopped the bleeding, making the score 4-13 in favor of the visitors. Another Wallett kill and two service aces from freshman Jordan Rittberger (Huntington, N.Y.) cut the deficit to just three moments later, but four RIC kills from Courtney Lambrese (Cranston, R.I.) helped to carry the Anchorwomen to a 25-18 win.
Even play marked the first part of the second set, until Sierra Smith (Longmont, Colo.) broke a 14-all tie to open an 11-5 point streak for Rhode Island College. Lambrese unloaded for two kills in the last four points as RIC prevailed 25-19.
UMass Dartmouth put forth its best hitting performance in the third set, but the Anchorwomen matched the intensity, wrapping up a 25-20 set on a .367 team hitting percentage with Abigayl White (Coventry, R.I.) securing all 14 of her team's assists.
