Box Score PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Sophomore Nick Portelance (Fairhaven, Mass.) led the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in points, rebounds, and assists, tabulating his fourth double-double of the season en route to a 64-59 win at Plymouth State in Little East Conference action Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
From the opening tip, the Corsairs controlled the game. After jumping out to an 8-0 deficit, the Panthers finally got on the board after nearly five minutes into the game. UMass Dartmouth would answer all of the Panthers buckets, until the Corsairs pulled off an 8-2 run capped off by three points from Portelance. Plymouth State would cut down the Corsairs lead down to three before Atakan Akcam (Hoosac Falls, N.Y.) laid in a bucket to send UMass Dartmouth into the break up five.
The Panthers secured a 6-0 run early in the second half to tie the game up at 40. The two teams would match the each other's buckets for the next 10 minutes, before UMass Dartmouth went on a 10-1 run to pull away from the hosts. Down the stretch, the Corsairs converted on all six free throws chances to seal the game.
Inside the Numbers
- Portelance led three Corsair scorers in double-figures with 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting on the contest. The sophomore forward additionally led all players with 12 boards while adding a team-high three assists.
- UMass Dartmouth registered a season-high with six blocks, including two from the hands of senior Abi Akanni (Fitchburg, Mass.).
- Rounding out the Corsair players in double-figures were senior Chris Mendes (Somerset, Mass.) with 12 points including 6-of-6 from the foul line and junior Tucker Bouchard (Kingston, Mass.) with 10.
- Despite Plymouth State being able to tie the game five times, the Corsairs led wire-to-wire on the afternoon.
- Plymouth State received 48 of its 59 points from its bench, led by players in double-digits as Jack Preston (Nashua, N.H.) and Curtis Arsenault (Berlin, N.H.) finished with 22 and 13, respectively.
